Quinua's STORY

Abel de la Rosa (Partner) was born in Acapulco, Mexico. Before moving to California in 2002, he worked for 10 years in different hotels around Acapulco, where he developed passion for the culinary industry. While working in a restaurant in Oakland, Abel met Juan, and they began to build a great friendship and partnership. 

Juan E. Gutierrez (partner), originally from Huaral, Peru moved to California in 2003. Juan grew up surrounded by the tasty aromas of his father and grandmother culinary creations. The love put into their homemade cooking inspired him to follow the same path into the culinary world later in his life. Once in California, Juan started working in the hospitality industry from the bottom, and eventually moving to general manager position in some of the most renowned restaurants in the Bay Area. Juan's roots, his passion for food and experience inspired him to open his own restaurant, along with friend Abel de la Rosa.  Juan has used his business background and hospitality knowledge to head up Quinua Restaurant Cocina Peruana in Petaluma, CA.
